What do you do at Genflow?
I'm our Commercial Director looking after our SHREDDY brand. I'm responsible for delivering the overall business performance across both digital and physical products. I also get involved in everything from marketing to finance and wholesale.
What were you doing prior to Genflow?
I've been working in e-commerce for over nine years. I started off on the Marks & Spencer E-Commerce Graduate Scheme in London before moving into the world of Sports Nutrition for 4 years, working for Science in Sport & PhD Nutrition. I was even lucky enough to relocate to San Francisco for two years to help launch our US business. In the 18 months prior to Genflow, I was Head of E-commerce for an eco-friendly startup in London, where I built out their online operations.
Describe your role in 3 words?
Fast-paced, challenging, rewarding.
The highlight of your time at Genflow so far?
Our SHREDDY stand at Dubai Active was an awesome trip and a great way to enter a relatively new market. However, it has to be our more recent SHREDDY2022 January Challenge. With close to 15,000 participants, it's been our biggest challenge to date.
Advice for someone who wants to work in your industry?
1. Never be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone. I've been lucky enough to work in London, Paris, San Francisco and Berlin and it was through these experiences that I learned so much about myself and the areas of business that interest me the most.
2. Push yourself to learn new skills - never let yourself become too focused or niche in your skillset. A well-rounded approach gives you commercial visibility of all key areas of a business.
3. Be passionate about your work. You spend more time at work than you do with your family and friends so make sure you're invested in it and most of all, you enjoy it.
Your favourite creator right now?
I've always been a big fan of Mike Thurston - I've used a number of his YouTube workouts over the years. I also love to watch Mike Majlak, Logan Paul's right-hand man. His book is a personal favourite.
